Lord of the Rings and Sublime
Lord of the Rings.......
1. Lord of the Rings was written by J.R.R. Tolkien.
2. Tolkien came up with the idea for the story in 1917.
3.The story takes place in Middle Earth and follows Frodo Baggins in his quest to destroy the Ring of Power.
4. Main characters include Fordo Baggins, Samwise Gamge, Merriadoc Brandybuck, Perigrin Took, Gandalf the Grey and Aragorn, Son of Arathorn.
5. Smaller characters include Legolas, Prince of the Woodland Elves, Gimli, Son of Gloin, Boromir, Son of Denethor, the Nazgul and Gollum.
6. Lord of the Rings was originally entitled "A New Hobbit", but after several false starts, Tolkien came up with the story of the one ring.
7. Tolkien incorporated many of his own interests into his story, including philology (the study of linguistics), religion, fairy tales and Finnish mythology.
8. The novel the Lord of the Rings has been translated into at least 38 different languages.
9. In 1957, Lord of the Rings was awarded with the International Fantasy Award.
10. In the 1933 movie "Six Degrees of Separation", Will Smith's character mocks the Lord of the Rings books in front of Ian McKellan's character. Over a decade later, Ian McKellan was asked to play the role of Gandalf in the movie trilogy.
Sublime.....
1.Sublime formed in 1988.
2. Sublime is an American reggae fusion band.
3. Sublime consists of Bradley Nowell (vocals and guitar), Bud Gough (drums and percussion), and Eric Wilson (bass guitar).
4. Sublime has released 3 studio albums, 1 live album, 5 compilation albums and 1 box set.
5. "What I Got" remains the band's only number 1 single.
6. Sublime played it's first gig on July 4, 1988 in a small club in Harbor Peninsula.
7. Main singer Bradley Nowell died on May 25, 1996 of a heroin overdose.
8. After Brad's death, Wilson and Gough formed the Long Beach Dub Allstars in 1997.
9. In 2009, the remaining band members decided to reform the band with a new main singer, Rome Ramirez.
10. The band was banned from using the name "Sublime" so they called themselves "Sublime with Rome" instead.
