???.....!

Sooooo, no job for Jessica. At least not at Bath and Body Works. Yay. I looked online again to see what else I could find. So far every place I have called is either not hiring or has just finished up their holiday hiring but I can turn in an application just in case someone doesn't work out. . . . Why is it so flipping hard to find a stinking job in this state?! (Mom, don't say anything about Alabama......) They used to be so easy to come by...In any case though, I did find something that looked interesting on the UNC website. A daughter looking for a care provider for her elderly father. Someone to sit and play cards with him, run a few errands, cook dinner...someone who can just be there for him. He's stubborn apparently, which made me laugh a little bit. I gave the lady a call and she didn't pick up so I left a message. Here's hoping, I guess. . . . .
Why are all my posts about how I DON'T have a job yet? Is my life really that boring?!
Sheesh.

Life. In. General.

So here's the latest update on jobs and whatnot. . . I had an interview at Bath and Body Works on Thursday. They said that they were still reviewing applications and what not and to wait about a week to hear from them. Well, it's 2 days short of a week so I decided to go in and talk to the manager. She said that they haven't hired anyone yet and are in the process of checking out references. She asked for my name and looked impressed that I had come in. She even said "Thanks for checking"! Hopefully I scored a few points with her on that one. As far as my interview today at Game Stop. . . It went well. The job is only temporary and is only about 9 hours a week. I wont know about that one either until the 31st of October. They have to fill the position by the 1st so here's hopin' with that one as well. It's be awesome if I got both jobs. I think I'd be set but nothing is set in stone at this point so I guess we'll see what happens. Wish me luck!

In other news, my cat had a kitten and he is doing just splendidly (sp?). He's a very fluffy ball of fun who loves to run around and sleep. He just started walking and is finally getting the hang of his shaky little limbs. Barlow loves to bother him and when he's trying to sleep, she will come up next to him and nuzzle his belly with her nose. He's not a huge fan of that but she loves doing it to him. Hopefully they turn out to be decent friends. Toupee is doing well after nites of not sleeping and feeding a hungry, squeaky baby. (Is that what human motherhood is like???) A friend of mine has bought Jeffery (the name we have stuck the kitten with, it actually works really well) and is going to give him to a friend of her's for Christmas. Hopefully he will have a good home and hopefully I'll still get the chance to see him every once in a while.

Anyways, my address is 2121 9th Ave, Apt A. Greeley, CO 80631. Just in case anyone felt like writing. :) I looooove getting letters from everyone so feel free to send them!!!!!!!!!! Until next time. . . . .

I don't have to die!!!!!!!

I got a callback!!!! I don't have to die now!!!!!!

Yayyyyyyy!

I called around all the places that I had applied at previously to see if anyone had looked over my application or not.

Nobody had.

Hiring managers were either out of town or not available till later or were waiting about a week to look through them.

I was starting to lose hope......then I called Bath and Body Works.

Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Sooooo, here I am again, jobless and incredibly bored.
I've spent my days walking Barlow, watching "Everybody Loves Raymond" and filling out job applications.
Here's the tally of places applied so far. . . . Burger King, McDonald's (which I told myself I'd NEVER work at...ha), Wal Mart, Macy's, Bath and Body Works, Taco Bell, Wendys (ew ew ew), Victoria's Secret, Spencer's and Game Stop. . . 10 places.
Have I gotten a single callback?!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
This economy is going to be the death of me.

Yay for things all working out!!!

Yay! Yayyayyayyay! So things seem to finally be coming into order for me. Well, they seem to be coming into order for me since I moved up to Greeley. For a while there I had almost lost hope for finding a job, seeing as how I was doing just about everything I possibly could and calling every place that even hinted that they were hiring, without any form of luck at all. Finally, while looking on the UNC website, I found a section of "for hires" that all revolved around babysitting/nannying positions. I called EVERYONE on that list and had ONE person pick up. I got an interview and then I got a callback that night. SOOOOOO I am currently working at a preschool taught at Jane Martin's home. The kids are all adorable. One little 4 years old boy, Braydon, tugs on my heartstrings especially. He's a smart, sweet, adorable little boy who reminds me in every way, shape and form of Abe. (Yes mother, he even has Abe's (small) attitude problem.) We had a few issues at first since he has a slight problem listening to the people in charge, but after a little while (and a few time-outs), Braydon and I finally met in the middle. Another little bundle of joy is Braydon's twin sister, Bryce. She's a teachers pet to every extent of the word. But not in the annoying, ridiculous kind of way. She loves to help. She loves to let the new kids (and my co-worker Jordan and I) know what they are usually doing at certain times and what they need to get done before they leave, etc. She has such a sweet heart and will be a joy to take care of, I know. All of the little boys and girls have such an amazing outlook on things. The oldest boy of the group, Liam (6), found a grasshopper on the playground the other day and immediately picked it up. Soon after, he started chasing the girls around with it so I asked him to put it down but to see that a person his age had no fears whatsoever and did everything because he wanted to was interesting. It made me start thinking about how fears develop and how people overcome those fears. Everyone's been told that the only way to overcome a fear is to face it, but what if the fact is that you're not really afraid of whatever it is. I'm not scared of grasshoppers but I don't like to touch them either. Some people may not necessarily be scared of getting on a roller coasters or of riding a horse but that doesn't mean that they actually want to either.......Something interesting to think about.......
Back to my original point though, I have another job as well. I am working at a seasonal corn maze/haunted house this September-October. Fritzlers Corn Maze. From what I understand, it's a pretty decent sized corn maze with a pretty decent haunted house as well. Orientation was last Thursday at 6 and we (we being Erin, Josh and I) start training this tuesday at 6. It's only a little over minimum wage but that, along with the preschool job will be plenty to get me through for a while. I"m very grateful that I finally found something. It isn't much but it IS something and it'll work out just fine for now. :)

Jobs....money.....pshhh.....

Finding a job in Greeley, CO is literally like trying to find a needle in a haystack. It's kind of lame. I have applied high and low and finally applied at the place I promised myself I never would: Taco Bell. It's for an Assistant Manager position though, does make me sound cooler? Maybe, but it doesn't make me feel any better. I prolly should've moved up here alot earlier than I did seeing as how all the college students decided to come back on the same day. That basically killed my chances of ever finding a job. . . ever. (Yes, an exaggeration but that's pretty much what it feels like.) So now, all I can do is sit and wait and see if I get any of the many jobs that I've applied for. Siiiiigh.........

What Are Friends For?

Friends. Everyone wants them and in a way, everyone needs them. Someone to hold you up when things are hard or to pick you up when you fall on your face. Someone to give the note to that boy you've been eyeing for the past month or someone to nudge the homecoming queen in your direction. Friends are not only a want but also a need. The past year I have found out who my real friends are (not in the best of ways but I've found out, nonetheless). A friend is not someone who will talk to you one way when you're alone but then when you're with friends, talk you down. A friend isn't someone who will pressure you into doing things that you don't really want to do. A friend is someone who will sit with you and cry when you've had a bad day. Or someone who will buy you ice cream and watch a chick-flick on a rainy day. A true friend is someone who loves you, no matter what you do. Nothing could ever change the way that they feel about you. Here are a few of my friends.....the REAL ones.
Erin Reed. . . . . . This is my best friend of 18 years. She's always been there for me, no matter what. Sure we've had a few issues, but hey, who hasn't. We've been with eachother through tree climbing and sleepovers. From shopping trips to harsh breakups. From depression to anxiety to joy and goofiness, we've always been there for eachother. There's nobody in the world that could come close to Erin or do what she does for me.

Joshua Lave. . . . . . My second best friend and boyfriend for the past 9 months. He's always there when I need him. Yes, we may have issues but what relationship doesn't? He's charming, loving, caring and does his best to help, even when all that means is holding me and cuddling with me. He's fun and funny and adorable and cute and....perfect. There's nobody in the world that could come close to Joshua or do what he does for me.

Katie Starkey. . . . . Just about as awesome as they come. Katie and I have known eachother for a really long time but just recently started really hanging out. Katie is hilarious and fun and awesome and isn't afraid to do new things and will always be there when I need her. We always laugh alot together and I have a feeling that will all just escalate when we finally move in together. There's nobody in the world that could come close to Katie or do what she does for me.
Erin Johnson. . . . . . Also, just about as awesome as they come. Erin and I have just gotten to know eachother but we are already really great friends. Erin is dating Joshua's rommate, Jon. They are adorable together and I love when the 4 of us hang out. It's always really fun. We love talking together and she's always there to make sure I'm doing alright. From tricky rommate troubles to fun little puppy dogs, Erin and I are in for a fun ride. :) There's nobody in the world that could come close to Erin or what she does for me.
Rachel Brottlund. . . . The eldest of my younger cousins (yes, I'm the oldest cousin, woo!). We have problems occasionally but I can always talk to her about just about anything. I love the girl and we've been near best friends forever. We're family but she can usually make me smile and we always have lots of fun together. Playing DDR and making our own recycled paper and designing our perfect wedding online. Rachel is always there with advice and love, even when I may not want it. I love you hon. :) There's nobody in the world that could come cose to Rachel or what she does for me.
Nick Dotegowski. . . . My second youngest cousin and best friend in the family. Nick and I have always gotten along very very well. I have tons of pictures from years ago at Christmas time of Nick and I in front of the tree and laying on the couch together. Nick can always make me smile and his accent cracks me up. He's a true New Yorker with an accent like that. From "Irish Dancing" to our fun burping contests, Nick and I are the greatest of friends that you can possibly be, within a family. There's nobody in the world that could come close to Nick or what he does for me.

So when it comes down to it, friends are all you need in life. You don't need many, just the few who make your world really spin around. A good balance of friends and there isn't anything you can't accomplish. I love all you guys so much. :) Thanks to all of you for always being there for me.

MY NEW PUPPY!

So I got a new puppy about a week ago. Her name is Barlow and she's just about adorable. She's a Border Collie mix but I love the girl to death. She's my new baby (Joshua, I'm sorry.......haha). Anyways, she's alot of work and loves to be super hyper but she's learning the ropes of an inside dog. An inside dog who has to be around cats as well. The cats haven't been too fond of her but I suppose they are getting used to having a much larger, much more rambunctious animal around them. Allof themm except for Evee anyways, the 3 month old kitten in the family. Evee flat out can't stand Barlow. It makes for some fun action sequences tho, watching Barlow walk within 10 feet of Evee and having Evee run away hissing is lways good entertainment. Haha. But all hissing and funny noises aside, Barlow has found a new home and a good one at that. She likes it here and I reckon she'll be sticking around for a while. :)

Priorities.....why?

So when we are children, Christmas day is the day that we live for. Birthdays are whatever, Easter is a day when we get eggs and candy and then Valentines day is a day we get heart shaped cookies and more candy. But when we turn into adults, the priorities change. Christmas just becomes a hassle. Shopping, wrapping, fighting about keeping the gifts hidden, getting a tree, putting up lights, cooking, cleaning, blah blah blah. It becomes more and more of a hassle than it ever should be. As children, all we want are gifts. As adults, all we want is for it to be over. On Christmas day, as a child, all we want is to wake up and tear the crap outta those gifts. As an adult, we sleep in. For as long as possible. Neither age groups really understand the real meaning of Christmas, I don’t think. But all religious beliefs aside, priorities change extremely depending on age. Is that a good thing? Comments are welcome.

Dirty Dancing

"God wouldn't give you morrocas if He didn't want you to SHAKE 'EM!" How is it that some movies become soooooo iconic while others end up as ultimate failures? Dirty Dancing is a perfect example. It has the innocent Baby, the not-so-innocent Johnny and his gang of dancers, the obnoxious older sister, the unsuspecting parents and of course, because a movie like this can't be set at home, the three week long summer camp. Baby sees Johnny and falls for him instantly, but when they finally meet, Johnny sees her as nothing but an immature and innocent Daddy's Girl. But through the duration of the movie, Johnny ends up seeing Baby for what she really is and falling madly and deeply in love with her. This of course causes family feuds and some feuds at the camp but in the end, "Nobody puts Baby in the corner." And with songs like "Be My Baby" by the Rhonettes, "Hungry Eyes" by Eric Carmen, "(I've Had) The Time of my Life" by Bill Medley and "Wipeout" by the Surfaris, how can this movie NOT be iconic? "I have to say, I'm really just the catch of the county." And of course, it takes ingenious one liners by arrogant business men............... :)
